Although we mainly cover designer brands on Denim Geek we fully understand that not everyone wants to shell out a few hundred notes for a new pair of jeans no matter how special they might be. Enter UNIQLO, a company and brand established in 1984 which most of you will probably have heard of and that we’ve admired for quite a while now.

Uniqlo have just launched a new denim campaign promoting their Uniqlo Jeans (UJ) range after a successful collaboration with Jil Sander last year. The UJ selection offers four current styles in a varirty of colours and washes including low-rise slim and regular straight fits. Each pair of Uniqlo jeans are made from Japanese stretch denim with detailing and quality in mind and what’s more, they start at £14.99!

Get over to http://www.uniqlo.co.uk now to check out the UJ range for yourself.

We always enjoy discovering new and exciting brands here at Denim Geek and MQT is no different. A premium menswear brand offering rustic denims and indigo classics, the brand was started two years ago by a few ex-Levi’s designers.

MQT’s mission is to provide superior jeans to the masses at a decent price and now they’re sold in numerous boutiques across England. All of the cotton is sourced from European mills in places like Italy and Spain and the finishing of each piece is centered on little details such as battered rivets, reversed belt loops and deep-v pockets. MQT jeans are available in six fits (carrot, slim, regular, relaxed, loose, twisted), nine designs and ten finishes.

OK, so it’s not a huge brand yet. But mixing and matching among designs, fits and finishes provides plenty of selection for men who want their denim a little different. The small size of the brand pays dividends: new designs are quick-to-market and detail can really be focused on. MQT live to make men look good in denim. And ideally, they don’t want that to be six months from now.

You’d struggle to find the same combination of style and detail at the price. A pair of Levi’s in London would set you back around £125 and MQT can be had from about £90 to about £110. Who knows what you’ll find it for online.

Check out www.mqtdenim.com for more information.

We had an E-Mail from a guy the other day asking why we only blog about jeans that will set him back over at least £100. Although we are a designer jeans blog, we do appreciate the fact that some quality jeans can be bought at a few places for great prices.

So, for Phil in Hull, we decided to quickly list a few decent pairs of jeans that we would recommend, which won’t break the bank.

First up are these Premium Selvedge Denim Slim Fit Jeans from the ‘Japanese H&M’, Uniqlo. They are available in Blue or Black and are priced at £49.99. They are available to buy here.

At half the price again though, would be a pair of Topman’s Raw Straight Leg Jeans. Although not selvedged and perhaps a little thin, these indigo denim jeans only cost £25.00. You can check these out here.

Perhaps the best buy we could find though, is unsurprisingly from ASOS. Their own brand has flourished in the last few months and we’ve heard only great things about their ASOSMAN Slim Selvedge Jeans. These jeans are made from a dark woven, textured selvedge denim and feature a blank red leather waist patch and low back pockets. Priced at only £34.50, we’d recommend these to all Denim Geek readers. Head over to ASOS now.
