We were over at Selectism today and noticed this Naked and Famous Beer Cooler. Awesome. Our favourite Montreal denim brand have geniously wrapped this classic beer/wine cooler in a roll of their 13oz selvedge denim and added a leather strap to create the ultimate summer accessory. Look out for it hitting stores next year.

Inspired by the Jack Kerouac masterpiece ‘On the Road’, the denim shirt symbolizes mobility and the warmth that new and unexpected experiences provide. Sixteen+ is an impressive ongoing project between 3sixteen and Self Edge. Taking the Japanese ideology of leaving no detail untouched, these two entities have come together to create a line which brings the Japanese otaku of denim and classic American styles to the western world.

The label works closely with small Japanese mills to create new types of denim and the latest range is created from a rope-dyed indigo selvedge denim. Features include custom gunmetal shanks & rivets and hand-stamped heavyweight leather patches. The denim began life a deep indigo colour with a considerable amount of vertical falling that’s visible, even when the denim is raw. Due to the rigid feel of this denim the jean’s color will evolve to a brighter shade of the same color over parts of heavy stress or abrasion that comes with normal wear. These are available now through all Self Edge stores and selfedge.com.

Journal de Nimes Nº5 – The British issue – has officially launched today and we’re looking forward to reading our copy with a rather large coffee. The guys from Tenue De Nimes travelled to the UK recently and were inspired by so many great things, that they could have “easily filled 100 pages”. In this fifth release you’ll find an interview with Nigel Cabourn at his Newcastle residence, along with features on Grenson and Miles Johnson, head designer of the inspiring Levi’s XX department. Add to that a London shopping map, plenty of British Treasures, a brief history of the Duffle Coat as well as a tribute to the 180th anniversary of the legendary Woolrich and you’ve got great little read on your hands.

A digital version of the magazine is available at http://issuu.com/nimes/docs/journal_no05 or you can grab a hard copy at AnotherShop.

We were over at Hypebeast this morning and thought we’d quickly share this with you guys. One of our favourite brands, Naked & Famous are staking their claim in denim history with the world’s heaviest denim fabric and their 32oz Weird Guy jeans. These must require some serious heavy-duty construction and as the pictures show, these rather heavy selvedge jeans stand-up on their own and will be limited to around 10 pairs. Get the latest on the brand at www.nakedandfamousdenim.com.

Denim Geek is pleased to report that J. Crew have been putting the finishing touching to a special collaboration with Japanese denim firm Warehouse. The Lot 484 jean follows Warehouse’s 800 series with a rinsed and aged 14oz vintage – made to mimic 50 year old dead stock denim.

    J. Crew Vice President of Men’s Design, Frank Muytjens is excited about the collaboration, which follows a series of exclusive Levi’s washes produced for the fashion house. He champions the authenticity of Warehouse and vintage denim and the brand have decided to use Memphis Cotton on the 484, known for it’s dramatic high and low fading. Keep an eye out for this slightly tapered jean, as it will soon be available in selected stores and online.

Check out this video, their first episode on denim and then head on over to www.putthison.com to watch the next one.

Many of us are passionate about footwear and are constantly looking for the right pair to twin with our jeans. We spotted a pair of boots the other day and were told, to our surprise, that they were from a brand which didn’t really ring a bell with us.

Native Craftworks marry the coolest footwear from North America with a European attention to detail. The brand have used these skills perfectly to come up with amazing take on the traditional moccasin.

Based in England, they set about bringing together the best components from around the world and the end result is mightily impressive. Native Craftworks boast of shoes made in the right way, not the cheapest or the quickest and it’s music to the ears of shoe obsessives the world over.

Their extensive search for the ideal crepe took them to a plantation in Sri Lanka, where they discovered the strongest and comfiest combination to make up the sole. This provides ample support and is the ideal base for their custom made leathers and suedes.

Each pair of Native Craftworks Moccasins takes four faithful hours of hard work and keen craft to construct, right down to the rawhide, handcut laces and waxed nylon thread which is used to carefully stitch the soles to the premium suede or leather upper. The bags featured here are by Chapman. Check out some of the latest offerings from Native Craftworks at www.oipolloi.com.
